The Sunne Lutheran Church is now over 120 years old and is located southeast of Wilton. Swedish immigrants who were among the earliest settlers in the region, some of whom had arrived 10 years earlier. In February 1893, neighbors gathered to organize and establish a Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Congregation and built a church. Because so many of the 30 or so present were from Sunne, Varmland, Sweden, the name "Sunne" was chosen for the congregation.
Services are held on Sundays at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Communion is the first and third Sunday of each month, and Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.
